ORIGIN
Zoey was born to a human mother, but her father was a visiting native of Tamarri. When Zoey turned 6 her father was called home and decided not to take his family with him, which set up Zoey to have a deep rooted hatred of authority figures. As she entered her teens and her beauty became apparent and noted upon, she decided she wanted to be an actress and took extensive drama and acting classes throughout junior high school and high school.
When her powers surfaced at 13, she was initially terrified of them and did her best to keep them concealed. A friend from school, whom would in a few short months become the villain Bitter Pill, discovered Zoey's powers by accident and when Pill formed the B-Girls, Zoey was her first recruit. Though Zoey never wanted to hurt anyone and wasn't interested in battling superheroes, she liked the idea of humiliating authority figures--like cops--and so adopted the name Bubblegum. She was content with the B-Girl's bank robbing escapades but began to have second thoughts when Pill recruited not-so-friendly team mates such as Byte, Bobcat, and Brat.
Bubblegum's loyalty to her team began to seriously waver when Bitter Pill's sanity collapsed and the B-Girl's leader went from having fun robbing banks to focusing on doing as much damage to the environment, and people, as possible. When Pill eventually left to become a general in Mastermind's Wicked Generation crime empire and Brat took the reigns as the B-Girl's team leader, Bubblegum's resolve to stay with the team vaporized. Knowing that Brat would murder her if she tried to leave the team, she secretly contacted Michael Moriarity seeking reform and asylum. Moriarity agreed in exchange for Bitter Pill's real name which Bubblegum handed over and subsequently resulted in Pill's arrest by the Champions and her incarceration in Stronghold. Moriarity slipped Bubblegum free of the B-Girls and instituted her in the Crusaders team.
Bubblegum likes being one of the 'good guys' and gets a genuine sense of self-worth and pride for doing the right thing, but remains haunted by her criminal past. She is sometimes recognized when in public and reactions are often negative. She doesn't let such things bother her. Personality-wise she is calm and mellow, often a smartass to her team because she likes teasing. She enjoys her own company often, but does suffer from bouts of incredible lonliness at times and gravitates toward Girl Wonder and Thumbelina for cheering up because she likes these two girls best. She has a mild crush on Doctor Tesla and has no idea what to make of the stoic Brahma or Breakdown, the latter of whom she finds incredibly spooky. She thinks Xin is very charming, and she things Flourish is just weird. She is a little afraid of Chinchilla and Cleopatra and is sad that Monkeywrench spurns her offer of friendship, as the two girls are closest in age.
